my initial reaction.
Public schools in Beijing are held in high esteem; they are prestigious. Private schools are not. There is immense pride for Beijing No. 4 High School, expressed by the administration, staff, faculty, students, and community. Upon the entrance to the school, you are met with about eight, glass-framed, eye level bulletin boards, full of high resolution images and descriptions of the 100-plus-year history of the school. They are meant to educate. They are meant to impress. And boy, do they ever.
On Thursday, Aug 15th, we began our orientation meeting with a two-hour tour of the main campus. I will let the following images speak for themselves.
